Run the bar under warm water and work up a rich, creamy lather — a little goes a long way.

Starting in your 40s, your skin starts making a different kind of oil. It sits on your skin and doesn't wash off easily. Over time, that oil causes a musty, grassy smell.
Why your skin
NEEDS FERMENTED PERSIMMON
Persimmon contains tannins - tiny particles that latch onto oil and pull it off your skin. The older the persimmon, the more potent the tannins. That's what lifts away the oil that causes the smell. Regular soap just slides over it.
The slow, traditional craft behind every bar.
Picked unripe — on purpose. Every summer, our farmers in Japan hand-pick persimmons while they're still small, hard and bitter. Most people wouldn't touch them. That's exactly what we want. That's when the tannins are at their strongest.
Crushed and fermented by hand. Once picked, the fruit is left to sit in wooden barrels until it softens and matures. When it's ready, each one is crushed by hand. What drips out is a thick, deep amber juice. That juice gets pressed and poured into clay pots. Then the doors close.
Aged for up to 3 years. The waiting begins. The pots sit. Month after month, the juice deepens into a rich, warm gold. The stronger it gets, the closer it is. Only then do we add green tea catechins, cold-pressed coconut oil and pure glycerin.
